How do the hard times fit in?

We always hear that when you are a Christian that life should be this easy and wonderful experience, and that tough times just won't happen.

In my life and in the lives of those around me this has never been the case. So what should we do then when tough times come? Does it mean that we have done something wrong and are getting punished? Does it mean we don't have a close enough relationship with God?

I think that just the opposite is true. The book of James has this to say:

2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

I don’t know what you’re currently facing in your life, but take it from someone that has been through some rough trial, that God is good and looking to make you the best you can be so that you will not be incomplete!
